About SunnyDay
SunnyDay has served the San Gabriel Valley from El Monte since 1999. The center was created in response to immigrant older adults' needs for language access, cultural understanding, transportation, health care and social connection in a familiar, respectful daytime setting.

Brief Introduction
As Asian immigrant communities grew across the San Gabriel Valley in the late twentieth century, many older adults faced language and cultural barriers, limited transportation, long-term health concerns and isolation from familiar social networks. SunnyDay was established to offer appropriate daytime support in the community, together with opportunities for friendship, learning and participation.
Today, in a comfortable, quiet and well-kept setting, the center coordinates nursing, physical and occupational therapy, nutritious meals, social services, medication reminders and transportation according to each participant's individual care plan. Bilingual staff help older adults express their needs and help families understand care arrangements.

Hope • Health • Vitality
SunnyDay Spirit
SunnyDay Adult Day Health Care was established in 1999 with a commitment to serve older adults with compassion, respect and a strong sense of community. From the beginning, the growth of SunnyDay has been made possible by the participation of our members, the dedication of our staff, and the support of families, friends, community partners and local leaders.
We are deeply grateful to the older adults who place their trust in SunnyDay and to everyone who has contributed time, care and encouragement to our work. Caring for older adults is not simply the responsibility of one organization. It is a shared responsibility among families, healthcare professionals, community members and society as a whole.
Over the years, SunnyDay has sought to respond to the changing needs of older adults by combining health-related services with social support, education, meaningful activities and human connection. Our experience has shown us that quality care involves more than meeting physical needs. Emotional well-being, dignity, friendship, confidence and a sense of purpose are also important parts of a fulfilling life.
SunnyDay believes that older adults should continue to be respected for their experience, wisdom and contribution to the community. Through supportive services, counseling, therapeutic programs, educational activities and opportunities for social participation, we seek to create an environment where participants can remain engaged, connected and valued.
Learning and personal growth have long been part of SunnyDay's philosophy. At every stage of life, people can continue to discover new interests, strengthen friendships and enjoy meaningful experiences. Knowledge and participation can help build confidence and encourage a positive outlook on daily life.
We have also learned that companionship and emotional connection are especially important in later life. Many older adults experience changes in health, mobility, family structure, language environment or social circles. A welcoming community can help reduce isolation and provide opportunities for friendship, conversation, encouragement and belonging.
Our work is guided by SunnyDay's longstanding spirit: Hope • Health • Vitality. These words represent our commitment to caring for older adults with compassion while encouraging dignity, participation and a positive approach to life.
As SunnyDay continues to serve the community, we remain committed to improving the quality of our services, listening to the needs of participants and families, and working together with healthcare professionals and community partners.
Every person can make a difference through kindness, patience and service. When older adults are surrounded by respect, affection and support, the entire community becomes stronger.
This is the spirit of SunnyDay: caring for one another, learning from one another, and helping every participant feel valued as part of a larger family.
Goals & mission

Longevity, Lifelong Learning, Living Well
SunnyDay looks beyond physical care to continued learning and enjoyment of daily life. English learning, music, singing, dance, painting and calligraphy, crafts, Tai Chi, chess, table games and health education create rhythm and connection throughout the day. Activities are adapted to individual abilities and care plans and do not promise medical outcomes.
Connected support throughout the day
Physical & occupational therapy
Licensed physical and occupational therapists support safe movement, daily function and participation according to each person's individual care plan.

Live, Learn and Find Joy at Every Age
Many older adults have lived through extraordinary periods of change and hardship. They have spent decades working, supporting families, raising children and helping the next generation pursue opportunities that may not have been available to them.
For some, later life also brings another major transition: moving far from familiar surroundings to join children and family in the United States. Along with a new physical environment can come changes in language, culture, friendships, health and daily routines.
Aging can also bring difficult experiences. Longtime friends and family members may pass away. Health and memory may change. The activities and responsibilities that once defined daily life may become different.
Yet age also brings something that cannot be replaced: experience and wisdom.
A lifetime of learning, work, relationships, hardship and accomplishment becomes part of who we are. Growing older should not cause us to forget our value. The knowledge gained over many years remains meaningful, and every stage of life can still contain curiosity, friendship and joy.
A positive outlook does not mean ignoring difficulties. It means learning to view life from a broader perspective and continuing to find meaning even as circumstances change.
Maintain Your Own Happiness
Continue discovering things that bring interest and enjoyment. Learn something new. Spend time with people who encourage you. Give yourself permission to enjoy the present instead of measuring life only by what you were once able to do.
Independence can also mean continuing to participate in your own decisions and daily life as much as possible, while accepting appropriate help when it is needed.
Learn to Appreciate What You Have
Later life provides an opportunity to recognize the experiences, relationships and accomplishments that have shaped us.
Instead of focusing only on what has changed or been lost, we can also appreciate what remains: family, friendship, community, conversation, music, learning, culture, memories and opportunities to participate.
Share Happiness With Others
Connection with other people remains important throughout life.
Joining activities, meeting friends, sharing interests and participating in the community can bring new experiences and relationships.
Learning in later life is different from learning only for employment or obligation. It can be motivated simply by curiosity and personal interest.
When people learn because they genuinely enjoy something, they often gain confidence and satisfaction. That confidence can also encourage others.
Optimism helps us face life's challenges with greater perspective and appreciate the “sunny days” life continues to offer.
As the years pass, many concerns that once seemed extremely important may become less significant. Achievement, competition, reputation and disagreement can gradually give way to a quieter understanding of life.
We can look back at what we have accomplished while continuing to appreciate the present. Life has different seasons. Growing older is one of them.
The goal is not simply to live to an old age or even to continue learning at an old age. It is also to continue finding meaning, dignity and joy throughout those years. Live, learn and find joy at every age.
